Piriton is also used for the management of itching in chickenpox. Piriton tablet contains the antihistamine chlorphenamine. It is very effective for relieving the symptoms of allergic reactions such as food allergies, hives, and hay fever within 30 minutes to an hour. For adults, 1 tablet every 4-6 hours. You should not intake more than 6 tablets in 24 hours. For children over the age of 12 years, 1 tablet every 4-6 hours. Do not exceed 3 tablets in 24 hours. For children aged 6-12 years, half tablet every 4-6 hours, with the dose, not exceeding 3 tablets in 24 hours. Piriton is generally a safe drug to be used by most individuals. Its use is contraindicated in individuals taking a type of antidepressants called MAOIs. Consult your doctor or a pharmacist at Pharmacy if you suffer from epilepsy, asthma, have liver disease, or heart disease or are already taking a medicine containing an antihistamine.
